STOP PRESS This Practice Note is being revised to reflect The National Health Service (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, which take effect from 1 April 2026. See: LNB News 17/10/2025 23. Background The National Health Service (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) Regulations 2011, SI 2011/704, took effect on 1 April 2011. Made under the NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2008, they introduced a fresh system for the handling and investigation of concerns about NHS services in Wales. The latest provisions, in force from 1 April 2023—the National Health Service (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2023, SI 2023/281—amend the National Health Service (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) Regulations 2011 (the “Principal Regulations”). They set out what the NHS in Wales must do to enable responsible bodies to deal with concerns effectively. The guidance on addressing concerns in the Welsh NHS is called ‘Putting Things Right’.
