Carolyn Brown

Carolyn began her training contract with DACB in 2009, and qualified into the Employment team in 2011, becoming Associate in 2017 and Senior Associate in 2020.
 
Carolyn has over 14 years' PQE experience advising on a range of employment matters including TUPE and organisational change, industrial relations, equal pay, day to day management of performance, conduct and sickness absence. She also represents respondents in Employment Tribunal and civil court proceedings in relation to all areas of employment law including unfair dismissal, unlawful discrimination, whistleblowing detriment, breach of contract, breach of WTR and equal pay. Carolyn advises on employment contracts and policies, delivers training and conducts independent investigations for employers.
 
Recent experience includes:
 
·      Representing an NHS Trust in a complex claim involving discrimination and whistleblowing detriment, with 20 witnesses including the former HR Director.
·      Advocating in the Employment Tribunal in the Preliminary Hearing of a disability discrimination, and whistleblowing detriment claim for a private healthcare provider.
·      Advising on collective redundancy consultation for a financial technology services client in advance of the sale of the Company.
·      Advising a large engineering company on the application of national and local collective agreements. 
·      Advising a public sector organisation on the application of TUPE to complex insourcing and outsourcing of services arrangements.
·      Carrying out an investigation into alleged sexual harassment and race discrimination for a large retailer.
