What does Corporate manslaughter mean? Corporate manslaughter describes holding an organisation criminally liable where systemic management failures cause a death and amount to a gross breach of a duty of care. In England and Wales and Northern Ireland, the offence is defined by the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007. An organisation is guilty if the way its activities are managed or organised causes a death and amounts to a gross breach of a relevant duty of care, with the failure substantially attributable to senior management.
