This Practice Note examines the expedited procedure contained in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Rules of Arbitration effective from 1 March 2017 (2017 ICC Rules). The introduction of an expedited process was the most notable change brought by the 2017 ICC Rules and aligned the ICC’s Rules with other arbitral institutions, such as the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, which offer mechanisms for fast-track resolution of Disputes. Under the ICC’s expedited route, proceedings can be concluded within six months. The 2017 ICC Rules also include revised ICC cost provisions in force from 1 January 2017.
