This overview sets out every concluded investigation by New Zealand’s competition regulator, the Commerce Commission (the CC), into suspected cartels, anti-competitive agreements and misuse of dominance since 2018. Only matters that have been made public are included here.

The CC has not yet issued any decisions under s 36 of the Commerce Act in 2026.

  • Construction - Unknown
    • Issues: Cartel - bid-rigging
    • Developments: High Court judgment - 23/10/2025; fines totalling $30,000 imposed (reduced from $595,000)
