What does Electronic Communications Code mean? The Electronic Communications Code is the UK’s statutory regime governing how telecoms operators obtain and exercise rights over land to install, keep and operate electronic communications apparatus (for example mobile masts, rooftop sites, ducts, cabinets and fibre). It is set out in Schedule 3A to the communications act 2003, comprehensively recast by the Digital Economy act 2017 and further amended (including by the Telecoms infrastructure (Leasehold Property) Act 2021 and the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022).
