Gazette definition

What does Gazette mean? In legal practice, “Gazette” means the official public record used to publish statutory and court‑directed notices that give constructive notice and often trigger time limits. In the UK, this is The london gazette (England and Wales), The Edinburgh Gazette (Scotland) and The Belfast Gazette (Northern Ireland), collectively “The Gazette”; in Ireland, the equivalent is Iris Oifigiúil. Many statutes and rules require Gazette publication, including in insolvency (bankruptcy/sequestration, winding up, administration), company law (change of name, strike‑off/restoration, petitions) and estates (creditors’ notices, for example a Trustee Act 1925 section 27 notice). Practice notes

1. What is the applicable legislation?

The key statute regulating foreign direct investment (FDI) control is the Investment Promotion Act (Official gazette Nos. 13/18, 204/21, 29/22, 65/23 and 31/24, the Act). It defines the categories of investment incentives, the qualifying conditions and criteria, the procedure for granting such incentives, and measures designed to stimulate investment and support the internationalisation of business entities in Slovenia. EU Member States may keep their existing screening mechanisms, introduce new ones, or opt to have none. Nonetheless, several core requirements must be met, including transparency of rules and procedures, the ability to seek recourse against screening decisions, cooperation among EU Member States, and confidentiality of information exchanged, etc.

The competent authority is the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport (the Ministry). The Minister of the...

This Practice Note This Practice Note reviews mechanisms used in settling litigation. A Tomlin order consists of a consent order paired with a schedule. It operates to stay proceedings on terms that have been agreed. The provisions contained in the schedule may remain confidential. This Practice Note describes the scope of confidentiality attaching to the schedule and sets out how it differs from a standard consent order. Sample wording for a Tomlin order is included, alongside links to precedents, as well as guidance on court approval. It also addresses varying, setting aside and enforcing a Tomlin order, including the considerations the court will take into account when handling applications for each. Further guidance is provided on interpreting and applying the relevant provisions of the CPR; however, some courts and divisions impose very specific requirements for both drafting and approval, and for approaching the schedule and confidentiality issues. Accordingly, you must consider the particular rules and court guide provisions in the forum where your claim is proceeding when drawing up the Tomlin order...
