Latest developments

On 24 August 2017, the CMA delivered an infringement decision against Ping Europe Limited (Ping) and levied a £1.45m penalty for stopping two UK retailers from offering Ping golf clubs for sale online (on the retailers’ own websites). The ruling obliges Ping to terminate the online sales restriction and to avoid applying the same or similar conditions to other retailers. The CMA indicates that although Ping must permit retailers to trade online, it may insist they satisfy certain prerequisites beforehand, provided such requirements comply with competition law.
