Cadastral map meaning

What does Cadastral map mean?
In land registration practice, this describes the authoritative map showing the extent of registered land and the mapped location of certain registered rights and burdens. In Scotland, “cadastral map” is a statutory concept under the Land Registration etc. (Scotland) Act 2012 and forms part of the Land Register maintained by registers of scotland. It is composed of cadastral units, each representing a single registered plot of land, with geospatial data delineating boundaries and showing, by reference, relevant registered servitudes and burdens. Any application to register an unregistered plot must describe the plot sufficiently (often with a suitable plan) to enable Registers of Scotland to delineate it on the cadastral map. Elsewhere the term is used descriptively. In England and Wales, the operative mapping is HM Land Registry’s index map and title plans (Ordnance Survey-based). In Northern Ireland, the Land Registry maintains the land registry map. In Ireland, the Property Registration Authority maintains the Land Registry map. Across these jurisdictions, cadastral mapping underpins boundary identification, title investigation, detection of overlaps, and the mapping of easements/servitudes and burdens, and is core to land registration, conveyancing due diligence and priority of competing applications.
