fusion for Energy (F4E) is the European Union body that procures, funds and manages Europe’s
contribution to the
iter nuclear fusion project and related fusion research and development. In legal practice it most often arises in EU public procurement, grant funding, supply and consortium agreements, intellectual property/licensing, and export‑control and nuclear compliance.
F4E is an EU joint undertaking established under the
euratom treaty by a Council decision and is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. Its mandate includes delivering the EU contribution to ITER, supporting fusion R&D (including the EU–Japan “Broader Approach”), and preparing for demonstration fusion power plants (DEMO).
