What does IACC mean?
IACC is the commonly used abbreviation for Isle of Anglesey County Council, the unitary authority for the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn), Wales. In legal practice it is encountered in planning, infrastructure and public law matters as the local planning authority and host authority for major projects, including nuclear and energy developments at Wylfa. “IACC” is not a statutory definition; the legal entity is Isle of Anglesey County Council. IACC engages in the Planning Act 2008 nationally significant infrastructure project regime (e.g., by providing Local Impact Reports on Development Consent Order applications) and, under Welsh planning legislation, determines Town and Country Planning Act applications, negotiates section 106 obligations and exercises other unitary functions (including highways and environmental health). Wylfa A is owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and operated by Magnox and is in decommissioning. In 2006, IACC resolved to support a replacement new nuclear station at Wylfa (commonly termed Wylfa Newydd). A subsequent DCO application did not proceed to construction, but policy interest in new nuclear at Wylfa continues.
