NSCP (
nuclear supply chain partnership) describes industry programmes that connect qualified manufacturers with nuclear developers, reactor vendors and Tier 1 suppliers. In legal practice it refers to supplier engagement and pre-qualification for UK nuclear new build, SMR/AMR, life-extension and decommissioning, providing a route to market and helping build a sustainable UK manufacturing base.
It is not defined in legislation or case law; the expression is used descriptively for government- and industry-sponsored initiatives and is capitalised when naming a specific programme.
For lawyers, NSCP participation typically involves supplier due diligence, confidentiality arrangements, collaboration or framework agreements, and flow-down of nuclear safety, quality and security requirements, together with export-control and sanctions compliance and controls on subcontracting. Contract terms commonly interface with reactor-vendor and Tier 1 procurement, address intellectual property and licensing, and calibrate warranties and liability caps to nuclear risk allocation.
Usage is consistent across England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In Ireland, where civil nuclear generation is not pursued, NSCP is used descriptively for Irish suppliers engaging with UK or international nuclear projects rather than any domestic programme.
