Pension, Disability and Carers' Service meaning

What does Pension, Disability and Carers' Service mean?
In practice, this term refers to the former executive agency of the department for work and pensions (DWP) that, between 2008 and 2011, administered state pension, disability and carers’ benefits in Great Britain. It is a descriptive, historical label rather than a term defined in legislation. The agency has since been absorbed back into the DWP; current delivery is through DWP business units such as The Pension Service, Disability Service Centre and Carer’s Allowance Unit. Its functions covered payment and administration of the State Pension (including the legacy Basic and additional state pension/SERPS/S2P for those reaching State Pension age before 6 April 2016, and the Category D over‑80 pension), Pension Credit, Winter Fuel Payment, the Christmas Bonus, pension forecasts (now via the Future Pension Centre/Check your State Pension) and the Pension Tracing Service, as well as Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment and Carer’s Allowance. For litigation, appeals and judicial review, the correct respondent is the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions; references to the “Pension, Disability and Carers’ Service” in older decisions or correspondence should be read accordingly.
