RCJ meaning

What does RCJ mean?
RCJ is a practitioner shorthand for the Royal Courts of Justice complex, the principal civil and appellate court building in England and Wales. It is the venue for the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) and many High Court courts and offices (including the Administrative Court, King’s Bench and Family Division courts, the Central Office, the Listing Office, the Fees Office and the Senior Courts Costs Office). The RCJ postal address is Strand, London WC2A 2LL. The abbreviation is not defined by statute or case law; it is a descriptive expression widely used in court documents, orders, directions, listings and the SCCO Guide. It commonly indicates where to issue or file documents, attend hearings, or pay fees. Note that some High Court specialist courts (e.g. Chancery, Commercial, TCC) sit mainly at the Rolls Building (Fetter Lane) rather than at the Strand, but remain part of the Senior Courts. Jurisdictional usage varies: in Northern Ireland, RCJ is also used for the Royal Courts of Justice, Belfast (housing the Court of Appeal and High Court). The term is not used for Scotland (Court of Session at Parliament House) or Ireland (Four Courts).
