Term Directive The EU Term Directive, Directive 2006/116/EC (codified), sought to harmonise national durations of protection for copyright works, which were typically set at the life of the author plus 70 years. In the UK, it was brought into effect by the Duration of Copyright and Rights in Performances Regulations 1995, SI 1995/3297.
