DBT publishes 2025 LPC remit for minimum wage recommendations

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has released a policy paper outlining the Low Pay Commission’s (LPC) remit for 2025. In shaping its recommendations on National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) rates from 1 April 2026, the LPC is tasked with ensuring the NLW remains at least two-thirds of median earnings, while taking into account inflation, the cost of living, wider economic conditions, business competitiveness and effects on the labour market. The government has also asked the LPC to proceed with its proposed consultation on removing adult age bands, with the outcomes to guide proposals for the 18 to 20-year-old rate(s) from April 2026...

It operates to stay proceedings on terms that have been agreed. The provisions contained in the schedule may remain confidential.
