The Court of Justice has delivered its judgment in Case C-401/24 Stockholms Hamn, a national reference from Sweden, addressing whether a yearly payment by a State authority to a municipal joint stock company for operating locks free of charge amounts to State aid within Article 107(1) TFEU and, if so, whether it must be regarded as existing or new aid under Regulation 2015/1589.
