DSIT publishes Online Safety Act 2023 explainer

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has released an explainer outlining what the Online Safety Act 2023 achieves and how it shields users from harmful online content. Ofcom’s consultation on protecting children from online harms casts a wide net

Ofcom has issued its second major consultation under the Act, centred on safeguarding children online. The OSA 2023 imposes safety duties on user-to-user and search services that are likely to be accessed by children, in relation to content that could harm them. This Practice Note This Practice Note reviews mechanisms used in settling litigation. A Tomlin order consists of a consent order paired with a schedule. It operates to stay proceedings on terms that have been agreed. The provisions contained in the schedule may remain confidential. This Practice Note describes the scope of confidentiality attaching to the schedule and sets out how it differs from a standard consent order.
