What does Lease renewal mean? lease renewal means granting a new lease to replace an expiring business lease, by statute or contractual agreement. In England and Wales, it usually means a statutory renewal of a business tenancy under Part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. The process is started by a landlord’s section 25 notice or a tenant’s section 26 request, with strict time limits.
