What does Interim receiver mean? An interim receiver is a temporary court appointee who secures and preserves a debtor’s assets after a bankruptcy petition is presented but before a bankruptcy order (adjudication in Ireland) is made. The role is preventive: to take control of property at risk of dissipation, secure books and records, collect income, and report to the court, without making distributions to creditors. In England and Wales and Northern Ireland, the office is provided for in insolvency legislation (including the Insolvency Act 1986 and the Insolvency (Northern Ireland) Order 1989).
